How StarJar works
StarJar turns the everyday things kids do into stars they can see. A grown-up sets it up, then the kids tap, earn and watch their jar fill.
Kids earn stars
- Morning and evening routinesTick each step before the time a grown-up sets, and the routine earns a star.
- BooksFind a book by its title and put it on the bookshelf. Each book earns 1 star, or up to 5 if a grown-up chooses.
- Activities and choresTap one, like helping cook, and it earns the stars a grown-up picked for it.
- LearningAdd each learning module a kid finishes for a star.

- It goes on your learning shelf.
The jar fills up
Every star drops into the kid's own jar. A jar holds 50 stars, or a smaller jar (10 to 50) if a grown-up picks one. A full jar gets a party, and a new jar starts.
Grown-ups can line up a jar reward for each kid, with a photo and a few words, so they know what the next full jar brings.
Made for the family tablet
- Big pictures and short words, made for kids still learning to read.
- Each kid has their own colour and animal picture.
- The home screen shows the time, what's coming up, like birthdays and school, and the weather once a grown-up picks your town.
- A TV timer counts down the TV time a grown-up allows.
- No red crosses and no 'you missed it': a late routine just says try again tomorrow.
- Grown-ups can turn sounds off or choose calm motion.
Grown-ups stay in charge
- The Grown-ups' zone sits behind the StarJar password. Kids never need it.
- Set up kids, routines, activities, learning and events, give or take stars, and undo a mistake.
- Keep ideas of things to do with each kid. Kids never see them.
- StarJar runs in the web browser on tablets, phones and computers, and installs like an app.
